Flower Frog Extravaganza!

Jacob loves, loves, loves Antique Sales and Flea Markets.  His search is always for something you or I would consider junk.  I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure.   He  looks for any old piece of electrical junk, tube radios, glass insulators, light bulbs and little gas airplane engines like Cox .049's, etc.   I  have been collecting flower frogs for years - even before their popularity.  I gave myself rules for collecting them.    Buy only metal flower frogs.     Don't collect the glass ones.  Buy only  one frog per sale or antique store.  Buy only enough to fill the glass jar placed on the shelf of the hutch in the  sunroom .   Try to buy a different type or style.   So okay, I broke a few rules.  I've duplicated a few,  I bought a vaseline glass one or two (not pictured),  and I bought some too large for the jar.     My latest addition is the one actually shaped like a flower.
After Country Living and Country Home wrote about them in their magazines their popularity soared and so did the price.  I'm lucky I started the collection before all of  the hull-a-ba-loo.  The most expensive was the hairpin frog in the front with little wooden bird on it.   The last one was only $10.00.   What do you like to collect?

Thanks for the nice comment on my blog and for adding me to your blogroll! If you like to collect older things, have you checked out Vintage Thingies Thursdays? It is a meme that happens every week. I participate, so you can check it out at my blog.
I actively collect snowmen. I have "rules" for buying them, also! I have several other collections, but I don't actively work at building them, they are things I have gotten from family homes, or as gifts.

That's an especially pretty frog. I've never seen one shaped like a flower.

I collect corn husk dolls, but my collection has grown so large that I gave half of it to my daughter-in-law.

Hi! Thank you for the wonderful comments you left on my blog about my tablescapes, I am glad you enjoyed them.
Your frog collection is really great, I like all the shapes, and of course the great thing is that they are useful too. I shall go to RMS is see if I can find you :)

Hmm, what do I collect, LOL, lots of china, dishes, glassware for the table.

And no, I don't have rosasia, just your regular hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Ooh, lucky me!

Hi Robyn. I love those little frogs. You know years ago I used to have some glass ones and for the life of me, don't know what happened to them. Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
