Happy Pink Saturday!

Happy Pink Saturday!

A marathon Black Friday shopping trip always deserves a quick pick me up
and this Almond Roca always fills the bill!  A tin or two made it into our cart
along with the Hickory Farms meat & cheese pack, and the little Black Scottie Dogs.

A  small pause in the action,  just to watch the fun animated figurines and scenes.
We are always a sucker for trains, after all Grampa worked for the railroad.
After squeezing all the paws of the singing and dancing puppies and pigs, and
pushing all the buttons on the little ice skaters and dancing Santas.....

We wandered past this set of very colorful Christmas trees, and at
$20 I think they are a steal, how about you? (I can't get this to stop
underlining my words - any suggestions?

We (okay the underlining stopped - why I don't know.....) went to all
the stores on Jacob's list.  Menard's Cashway Lumber was our first stop,  because
somebody wanted the small generator that was on sale for $99 (Half Price - woo hoo!).
I was told it would be perfect for camping.
Our next stop was the mall.   Jacob has phy-ed next trimester and
needed gym clothes.   (Which also meant he needed brand new boxers
just in case someone snuck a peak and his undies weren't "cool".)
After a run through the usual A&F, AE, Pacsun, Zumiez, etc. we grabbed
a quick lunch at Culver's,  then popped into Walmart where we spotted all of
our Pink Saturday finds.
In the electronics department Jacob used the bar scanner on his
new cell phone to compare prices on a few items.  The sale sign  on the
products  clearly stated that their  prices were unbeatable!   When we
approached the department manager that we found a lower price with his
scanner he refused to match it - even though the lower price was
from a neighboring Walmart just 4 miles away).
(He had two excuses - #1 -  It wasn't a  printed advertisement, and
#2 - They don't price match other Walmart prices, huh?)
That doesn't sound like they are unbeatable to me!
The bar scanner sure is handy though.
Later it dawned on us that  not only could we check the prices on the items,
but we could check reviews on those items as well,
and I am glad we didn't buy them.   One item had  over a
dozen reviews labeled DON'T BUY THIS &  THIS IS JUNK, etc.   And a  television we
looked at for my parents bedroom only had a  850:1 contrast ratio.
Well, that only means that I am still back at square one.  I guess
tomorrow we will buzz over to Best Buy and Circuit City.
Hope you all have a Happy Pink Saturday!
Please visit Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound for the rest of
the Pink Saturday participants!

Stores like to advertise that they'll beat anyone else's price, but I've never found one to honor that. There's always one excuse or the other. Last time I tried, at a Home Depot, I was told that the item # was different!

Happy Pink Saturday Robyn and Jacoub, I guess you are both out getting more incredible bargains?. I think that manager at Walmart's was just plain mean!. WOW I have never heard of checking prices and reviews on a cell phone, that's awesome!, hope you find the perfect TV for your parents, hugs, Kathy.

Almond Roca always reminds me of my mom! She loved it so much and this time of year I tend to see it in stores more. THanks for the memory.

Yow, you went out amongst the crowds, huh? I'm minorly glad that I'm feeling too crummy to even consider it, and am equally glad one of my guys will buy some more 7-Up on the way home from wherever this evening.

Walmart and price matching ... it makes me nuts that they don't match prices with other Walmarts, but it's company policy. Guess it has something to do with managers needing to get rid of things they overstocked. I've discovered lots of other stores within other big box chains are the same way.

Have a great pink week!

Robyn, your post about your shopping trip was very interesting. Scanning prices on your cell phone blows me away. I think that Walmart was wrong. I like your purchases though. the little train thing is cute and the Almond Roca sure is Pink.
Good luck with your shopping tomorrow.

Hugs, Jeanne

Happy Pink Saturday, Robyn.

I think that feature on cell phones is awesome. And, I think that was stinky of that Walmart manager to not match the price.

I think I "NEED" the pink tree. Is the other one purple? Hmm, I could do it in purple and gold for LSU. ;-)

I saw you like Steel Magnolias? I actually watched some of it being filmed...what fun!

Hi, glad you had fun shopping with Jacob! The cell phones are amazing, aren't they??? Makes my "party line" post put me back there with the dinosaurs! HA My husband and I went shopping Friday too, but I don't know that I'll go next year. Online shopping is sooo much easier! Take care, "talk" soon, friend.

Hi Robyn,
That hippo looks familiar. Actually I borrowed it from FreeFoto.Com. He's a cutie.
Like all your pinks. Well, they passed the by-law and starting in June all of our store here in Toronto will be charging 5 cents a bag. DaisySoapGirl says it's coming in New York City soon too. Have a great blogging week.
