This is not me - just a pic from the internet....
I woke up yesterday morning with the biggest honkin-est cold sore - front and center on my bottom lip. Do you know how embarrassingly painful that is? Not only do I work in a dental office so I am "front and center" with my lips when I seat my patients - I think that it just looks gross.
Wouldn't you be grossed out. Wouldn't you be afraid that you could "catch it"? I can't wait to get that mask on my face. Sadly, when I have the mask on my face - it gives me free reign to "play" with it. I can't leave the sucker alone. I'm biting at it and my tongue is poking it. It's sickening. I've applied 90% alcohol (that stings like a SOB!), I've applied Chlorhexidine, and I've applied topical anesthetic which helps to numb it. You can purchase that in the form of Anebesol or Zilactin.
You'd think that it would stop me from eating - 'fraid not. I scarfed down a donut this morning (a patient brought them in for us, pizza for lunch ( Dr. K bought us lunch today:), and an Arby's roast beef for supper (cut me some slack, I had an emergency at work and didn't get home until after 6) - I know, not a healthy diet...
As I am signing off for the evening, the weather man is telling me we may be in for some snow this week starting with some sleet right about supper time. I better make sure I have my window scraper in my car. ~ Robyn

OH MY GOSH...do you think that picture is big enough!!! I thought I was being attacked by a giant mouth lol....then I saw that ickiness and wanted to back away from my computer before I caught it too! Sorry about the oozing pussy disgusting sore on your face...I betcha feel better now huh? LOL I hope you get better!
Ewww, it does gross me out. I've never had one, thank goodness. I hope you get this one cleared up soon. (It wouldn't stop me from eating, either!)
OWIE! Have you ever tried Viroxyn? we carry it at the office, one of our dr's swears by it. Isn't it funny how we can't leave things alone when it comes to our lips and mouth...I hope it goes away soon! On to with the recount!
Have a great day!
Kathi :)
Hang in there - it can't last for forever!!! Sally
I've never had a cold sore but my husband used to get them. Eons ago I had a nurse tell me to put douche powder on my husband's. I bought some and did but I didn't tell him what it was until after. It went away. I don't even know if you can buy douche powder anymore or what was in it. He still hasn't forgiven me for putting it on him even though the cold sore went away!! SIGH, I should have never told him what it was. I hope your's goes away soon bz I've been told they really hurt.
Oh - how annoying and painful. I remember years and years ago I had a job interview and woke up with an ugly cold sore. I got the job! It's a good thing you wear a mask to work. I don't know how well that cold sore would go with patients. I use Carmax for cold sores. It's the best product I've found. I hope that it soon heals.
Hugs,
Sweetie
WOW at first I thought this was a picture of Mick Jagger mouth..oh sorry girl you can shoot me later..
Just tell everyone at work this is what your Dentist did to you haha!! Hugs and smiles Gloria
You have one too???? Must be something in the air. A couple of weekends ago in the middle of shopping my tongue touched my lip and there I felt it. A tiny pin size bit of heat and tingle. It grew like yours but the last evidence of it is gone now.
Yours looks sore. Don't chew at it!!!! This time I was really good about it and I applied a prescription cream on it and not chewing it or licking it helped get rid of it quicker.
Its a good thing you can wear your mask and cover it up. I hope it starts to go away soon..and don't touch it!!!!
Hope you have a lovely evening.
Judi
Ahhh I am sorry hubby gets them all the time and they are hell I tell you!~~Hoping it goes away FAST!!! Hubby uses something called oh crap can't remember starts with a Z??? It works well though;) French;)
Oh sorry! I've never had one but they are pretty yucky looking so I'm glad you get to hide it behind your mask at work. Get better soon!
Oh, Robyn, I'm so sorry for you! I used to have these quite often and I know how they feel and how they hurt. I've used Deniver (not sure how it's spelled) and it helped me more than anything. Take care of yourself.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I get those horrid things, too. YOURS looks realllllly bad!
I found if I put ZOVIRAX on it as soon as it starts it realllly helps to keep it from getting huge. Your boss should be able to prescribe that for you. In the meantime--DON'T TOUCH IT ANYMORE!!!
I've never had a cold sore. Seems like everyone else I know has, but I've lucked out.
