My Family Room with Homespun Holiday Cheer

Homespun touches, handknit stockings, collections of stars and candle bobbins
add to the warmth of my family room.

A closer view of the fireplace mantel.

Yes,  (can you believe it),  I knit the Christmas socks.   Miles was a very
good boy - Santa will be good to him this year.

I wanted you to see a close-up of this garland. It's most unique.
It appears as if it was crafted from metal castings....
It really sparkles in the glow from the candlelight.

Our little Snowman Family.

Felted pillows.

I finally remembered,  gee, I should light a fire in the fireplace.

Here is a peek at the whole fireplace and shelves.
As you can see, I am a down-home kind of girl.
I like things solid looking and  home-made.
A lot of furnishings and decor in my home
were crafted by family members.

How amazing that you knit those stockings! Hooray for you. I,too, like good old down home country. Things that are weathered and worn and built sturdily and handed down for generations!

It's all so cozy; I wish I was there right now w/ some tea or cocoa reading and listening to instrumental Christmas music.

Your mantel looks beautiful. I also got a smile out of the Kohl's commercial on the TV (I was just there doing some Christmas shopping myself!).

I added this to my blog party post this morning. If you wouldn't mind adding a link back to the party so your readers can visit, that would be great. Thanks! -Julia :-)

Good morning, just stopping by with "warm" wishes for a great day. Isn't it funny that we had a morning snowfall and school was cancelled and ya'll are snowed in! We just aren't equipped for snow. I love your Christmas decorations, especially those stockings! And I NEED some bobbins!

Robyn,
I LOVE LOVE LOVE those candlesticks - but they aren't candlesticks, right? They're like yarn spools or something? I saw something like it an antique shop once and they wanted WAY too much for the set of 10. But I love them, they're so beautiful! As is everything else! Just divine! Thanks for stopping by my blog, and Merry Christmas to you and all of yours! See you in 2009.

Oh, I love your primitive-look Christmas mantle and ornaments! Reminds me of my own. I adore snowmen, and I have a collection I treasure given from friends and family. I love my primitive-type decor, reminds me of days gone by. Your home is beautiful, as is your site! Thank you, also, for adding me to your "blog roll". I returned the favor. :)
Continue to enjoy the remainder of the Christmas season and Happy New Year!
