Let's Get Caught Up.....Again! Dogs On Thursday, Bookworms, etc.

What  a ditz.   I tried sending Bridget my baby photo,  but I screwed up the g-mail address.  Then when I finally realized what I did - it was too late.   So here it is.  You would have guessed  me right away anyway,  I still look the same.   And this way I don't have to post my adult photo...

Here is a picture of Mile's brushing his teeth.  What a good boy!

Kathi from Lavender, Lace & Thyme presented me with this Bookworm  award the other day.
As you know, they always come with rules.

Pass this on to 5 blogging friends.

Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56.

Write the 5th sentence, as well as two to five sentences following that...

Well, I have a few books going.  The first is a cookbook.
Cooking For Your Style of Living
A Herberger's collection of tantalizing recipes from our friends and families.

Page 56  contains a recipe for:

 Lemon Zucchini Bread (or muffins)
from Charlotte Anderson, Bismarck, ND

INGREDIENTS:
3 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup oil
1 t. lemon extract
2 cup grated zucchini
3 cups flour
1/4 t. salt
1/4  t. baking powder
1 t. soda
3/4 cup golden raisins
or chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS:
Mix eggs, sugar, oil and lemon extract well.  Add zucchini.   Add flour, salt, baking powder, soda, and raisins or pecans.   Mix until all flour is moistened.  Put into loaf pans and bake at 350' for 45 to 50 minutes, or put into muffin pans and bake for 15 minutes.  Serve 12.
The actual book I am reading is

Crazy Ladies
by
Michael Lee West

The passage is as follows.....
I hadn't been impressed by his people.   His Aunt Estelle, who'd raised him after his parents moved to Chicago, was a nasty woman.   He always called her Ain't  Estelle, like her name was sawed in half, Es telle.

So now I need to choose five blogging buddies:

I can't wait to see what books you all are reading.

Have a nice Day!

Robyn

ok, here they are...page 56...5th sentence....

"Besides, we've got work to do" he reached under the covers and plucked out my foot pinching my big toe. "I thought you had a craving for huevos con chirizo". I didn't have anthing but an unreasonable urge to call home and tell my sisters the truth-that I'd stupidly risked my life by(1)driving alone, and (2)aggravating a forty-footwhale. My sisters were loyal-they'd blame everything on Sam and Nina. "Get rid of the bitch", Jo-Nell would say. But I wasn't good at that sort of thing. I was always underestimating my foes. Years ago when I was living in Menphis, I had a mouse in my kitchen. No big deal, I thought. I'd set a trap of Velveeta, all the while dreading the sound of the sickening thud, but the damn thing dragged off the trap, cheese and all.

You know how the song goes: "You must have been a beautiful baby, cause baby look at you now." I don't think I did too well on Bridgets baby guess game.

Thank you for the award. I AM a bookworm, and I'm going to put it on my book blog http://bookcritiques.blogspot.com
It'll be up sometime tomorrow afternoon.

What a wonderful post Robyn, you sure were a cute baby, and you know I love Miles the smiling dog hehe, congratulations on your bookworm award and thanks for the recipe it looks yummy. I missed Gordon Ramsay by 60 minutes yesterday, he was signing his new cook book in Selfridges in London's West End, luckily he left a few signed copies and we were able to get one, it would have been nice to have met him though.

I want to get some of Gollum's books, I have put them on my Santa list, enjoy your reading, have a wonderful weekend, hugs, Kathy.

Hello Robyn!

I love baby pictures, I look to see what's the same as an adult :). No wonder that Miles has such white teeth! Lemon zucchini bread sounds wonderful, I still have a huge zucchini in my fridge I need to use and who wouldn't love a book called Crazy Ladies! LOL.

Don't work too hard...it's Friday tomorrow! Woohoo!

Kathi :)

Christmas music, that means they'll start in at work soon...sigh

You were as cute as a baby as you are now!!!

I bought this book of Gollum's a couple of weeks ago, but I've been too busy to get started. Hopefully I can start it soon.

And thanks for the recipe! Looks like I'll be making muffins this weekend and reading a great book!

Hugs,
Cyndy
Also thanks for the great info on the gum. I didn't know that. I had always heard of xylitol, but was afraid it was one of those sweetners that may be bad for you. It's good to know.

What a precious baby picture - you were a darling. Miles is such a precious puppy - imagine brushing his teeth. Your recipe looks good. Zucchini are so plentiful in the summer that I grate it and freeze two cups in a freezer bag. Most recipes call for two cups of zucchini. I enjoyed your post.

Hi Robyn
What a great post. The picture of you is sooo sweet.
Your puppy is doing a great job cleaning his teeth and probably doing such a good job - your floor too.*s*.

I am supposed to be doing other things today...that zucchini lemon bread recipe looks very good. I love lemon and zucchini but haven't had them together. I may have to dash out for zucchini.
have a great day
