BLUE MONDAY! ALMOST A DAY LATE & A DOLLAR SHORT

Here we are another
Blue Monday...
Hosted by non-other than
our own

Have you ever shopped at Aldi's?
It is the most unique little
grocery store with absolutely no frills.
To use a shopping cart,
you need to deposit a quarter
- which you get back when you return
the cart back to it's rack.

It's a great little store
when you are in a hurry for
a quick supper.

They really don't carry name brands.
But they have products made especially for them
by companies that we are familiar with.

Here's what we wound up eating -
Not very healthy,
but satisfying.

Plus I was craving a Sloppy Joe,
and I needed buns.

I understand that they are affiliated with Trader Joe's.
You can recognize some of the same products
throughout the store.

Just be sure to bring your own bags,
or you'll have to pay a dime for
one of theirs.

Chicken and french fries - you have to do that every once in awhile!

I've heard that there are great bargains at Aldi's. We have one about 15 miles from here but I've never been. I'm not really good about trying different brands. Maybe you could tell us some time the items that you've tried and love??

Never fear, I'm always a day late and a dollar short! Better late than never is my motto!
I've never heard of Aldi's but we have Trader Joe's. I like the quarter for a cart concept. I can see that one spreading across the country soon.

Hi Robyn :)

I'm sorry for not coming by, but that blogger issue is still popping up. I made it through today after the 6th try I think... ugh.

anyhoo... I'm now craving a sloppy Joe... YUM!

Your garden looks beautiful! Give Jacob a thumbs up for me too ;)

What a neat idea for Blue Monday! I have come to adore Aldi's! I love going there for their amazing produce. Although, I know their delieveries vary by area..I have managed to become "BPFFs" (Best Produce Friends Forever"--LOL) with the Produce Manger at my local Aldi's and gained informative knowledge as to when the fresh produce arrives...*wink* My daughters love pineapple and I have found my Aldi's has the most freshest (plus well known brand) pineapple in town...no more waiting on the counter for days to ripen..and their berries are to die for. I don't mind the "quarter carts" and I love using my canvas, eco-friendly shopping bags I have accumulated from other stores to carry my great buys home. My daughters love the popcorn chicken as well! Great post!

I just got back from Aldi's a half hour ago- came away with a box full of bread, eggs, milk, sausage, broccoli, lettuce, marshmallows, butter, crackers, chips, cereal- all for $21.00. This place can be a bargain, believe me. I only bought 1 thing that I hated, and it was a can of refried beans for 59 cents. I even bought my Xmas ham there! I doctored it up w/my special glaze and it was better than the honey baked variety that sells or upwards of $40.00. I always pilfer an empty box from the shelves to put my things in as I walk through the store. No stigma for this girl to shop at this little store! :-) Sue

Shoot! We don't have those stores here! Every once in awhile I get a real craving for sloppy joes too. My husband doesn't think I've cooked dinner when I serve them, but he eats them anyway! I think your dinner looks delicious! laurie
